What is your first step when troubleshooting a software problem?

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that when a software program starts showing errors, crashes, or unexpected behavior, it can be tempting to uninstall and reinstall everything immediately. However, that doesn’t always solve the underlying problem.

I’m curious about how others here approach software troubleshooting.

For example, do you usually:

  • Check error logs first?

  • Look for conflicts between different software versions?

  • Reset configuration or preferences?

  • Check drivers and system updates?

  • Search the official documentation before reinstalling?

  • Completely remove the previous installation and start fresh?

I’ve found that identifying the actual cause first can save quite a bit of time, especially with larger engineering or technical software where reinstalling can take a long time. space waves

What troubleshooting steps have worked best for you? I’d be interested to hear practical experiences, especially with CAD, simulation, or other software that tends to be sensitive to installation and configuration issues.
