CIE IGCSE Physics Syllabus Changes: The Complete Guide (2023 to 2028)

⚡ IMPORTANT UPDATE: 2026-2028 SYLLABUS CONFIRMATION
Cambridge has released the IGCSE Physics 0625 syllabus for 2026, 2027, and 2028 exams. Crucially, the official guidance confirms: “There are no significant changes which affect teaching.”
This means the core syllabus changes detailed below (introduced in 2023) remain the latest, most relevant information for all exams up to 2028.
Introduction to the IGCSE Physics Syllabus changes for 2023-2028
Exciting news for physics enthusiasts! Cambridge IGCSE has recently released an updated physics syllabus for 2023 and beyond. Keeping up with the latest advancements, a new chapter has been introduced in response to the new space race.
These changes reflect a positive shift towards innovation and progress. If you're preparing for the exam between 2023-2028, take note of these new developments and embrace the opportunity to learn and grow.
Chapter 1 Motion, Forces, and Energy
Calculation of two vectors at right angles (previously, you only had to draw)
The gravitational acceleration constant has been updated from 10 m/s^2 to 9.8 m/s^2 (more in line with college and university)
Removal of barometer and manometer
Added Sankey Diagrams
Chapter 2 Thermal Physics
Removal of Specific Latent Heat
Removal of measurement of temperature
Added conversion from Celsius to Kelvin
Thermocouple removed.
Chapter 3 Waves
Added digital and analog signals
Chapter 4 Electricity and Magnetism
Removal of logic gates
Chapter 5 Nuclear Physics
No changes
Chapter 6 Space Physics (an entirely new chapter! yay)
Added earth and solar system
Stars and the universe
